A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT - AN EVEN BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN
Dorado Beach Resort In Dorado Municipality.
Dorado is a resort town of lavish hotels, splendid beaches, upscale residences and championship golf courses located 15 miles west of San Juan on the island's north coast. In recent years, Dorado has gained a reputation for its upscale housing developments, such as Dorado Beach Estates, Dorado Country Estates, Paseo del Sol and Paseo Los Corales.
Founded in 1842, Dorado is known as "La Ciudad Dorada" (The Golden City), "La Ciudad Ejemplar" (The Exemplary City) and "La Ciudad Mas Limpia de Puerto Rico" (The Cleanest City in Puerto Rico). In the early 20th century, the Rockefeller family built a large private vacation compound in Dorado that later became the site of the Dorado Beach Hotel & Golf Club (now Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve) and the Dorado Beach Hyatt Hotel (now closed).
Dorado is famous for its many beaches and championship golf courses. Some of the most popular beaches are Cerro Gordo, Sardinera, Playa del Dorado, Ojo del Buey, Barlovento and surf beaches Kikita and El Unico. The Dorado Beach and Dorado del Mar golf courses offer stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, magnificently shaped greens and challenging layouts, attracting professional and amateur golfers from all over the world.
Dorado also is home to several notable manufacturers, among them Boston Scientific and Heraeus Medical Components.
Its beautiful resorts, beaches, golf courses and homes, as well as proximity to San Juan’s attractions make Dorado a top choice among people and businesses relocating to Puerto Rico.
